My key was starting to get stuck in the ignition for a few days, and then it was stuck for good. Took it to the mechanic and they pulled the steering wheel lock out of the column. They said it was a pita to get out, about 45min job. Seems like the only safety feature that I lost was that I can move the shifter to any spot without pressing the brake.

I bought a car Saturday. Drove to MN to get it, the car lived in AZ most of its life. 102k, T56, LS1, it checks all the boxes. Basically to resolve my financial situation a couple weeks ago, I had to sell the G8. I hated doing it, but I'm so much better off now. I have my life back, plus three years of great memories with that car. And now I also finally have a manual. And in a car I've always lusted over especially.

This is a common problem with GTO's. Do a search on LS1GTO will turn up a lot of info on it. I forget what the ultimate solution was as it never happened to me (now it will the next time I actually drive it...)

Will, I don't think your G8 was even put out for sale. I was watching for it the past few weeks just to see what they put it out at. Either someone there snapped it up, or it went right to auction. Although, I also have not found it listed anywhere else online, which leads me to the first possibility. But you know how I love the simple brutality of a 4th gen... I've also been waiting for you to spill the beans because I didn't want to slip up and say something inadvertantly.

Interesting. I haven't even looked to see if it was listed or not. But yeah, part of the reason I waited to say anything was cause I was kinda still emotional about it. But I'm better now.

The tires aren't right, but they're also bald. So they'll get replaced in spring for sure.

And unlike our infernal wheelwells, you can actually fit respectable rubber under the back of those damn things.

Yea, never been a fan of those American Racing Torque Thrust or AR Torque Thrust wannabes on modern vehicles, but they seem popular on F-Bodies for some bizarre reason.

Yes, the F-Body can accomodate much larger meat back there. The problem becomes, putting too much "sticky" back there now pushes an already strained S-10 10-bolt rear end to it's limit. M6 F-Bodies have two weak links. The clutch (as is the fuse on all LSx powered vehicles), and the rear end. Otherwise, the manual versions come with obviously a fairly robust T56 (in terms of power handling, his being '02, he has the Tremec version, not the B&W of earlier F-Bodies), and the beefed up 3.5" aluminum driveshaft from the factory.
